Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine / Conditions Commonly Treated / Treatment Structure

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine

Acupuncture and the techniques of Oriental Medicine have been effective methods of health care for more than 4,000 years. However it is only within the past 20 years that Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
have gained popularity in the United States.

Acupuncture involves the stimulation of various points on the body with fine, solid needles to help balance the “vital energy” or “qi” of the body. Acupuncture and Oriental medicine are based on the presence of “vital energy” or “qi” within our bodies.

Various health concerns occur when there is an imbalance within the “vital energy” system. For example, a woman might experience infertility due to an imbalance of qi within the body. Therefore, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are able to effectively treat the cause of the infertility by rebalancing the qi.

Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are used to treat the following:

Infertility

Compliment to IVF

Painful Menstruation

Mood Changes

Treatment Structure

Your initial consultation and treatment usually lasts about 90 minutes. I will gain as much information about your current health state, health concern, and history as I can during this session. I will also observe the appearance of your tongue and feel your pulses on your wrists. All of the information I gain will help determine what therapies and what acupoints will be used during your treatments. After I insert the needles, you will rest on the table for 15 to 30 minutes. The treatments are often very relaxing.

In your first follow up visit, I will present you with a treatment plan. Your treatment plan will be unique to your goals and your health concerns. During this session, I will explain how acupuncture and oriental medicine will help you reach your health and wellness goals. The treatment plan will also give you a good idea of what you may fairly expect from the treatments; including how long it will take to reach your health goals and what you may do on your own to supplement the treatments. You will also receive a treatment during this session. Follow up visits usually take 45 to 60 minutes.
